Barbara Lynn Ozen

Barbara Lynn Ozen rocks. Her first single "You'll Lose A Good Thing" was a #1 R&B hit and Top 10 pop hit in 1962. Her contemporaries included Gladys Knight, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, Sam Cooke, Al Green, James Brown, Marvin Gaye, Tina Turner, B.B. King among others. How she hasn't achieved the same notoriety I have no idea. Especially given the way she rocks out on that guitar. Thanks go to PB for turning me on to her.

Here are some clips to watch. Apparently they are reissuing some of her music on CD soon, but I'll likely need to get some on iTunes.

And yeah, that was Chuck Berry.

What I'm listening to now...

I've really been digging this album, to the extent that I've had it on non-stop repeat at work lately. My boss gave it to me, so thanks go to AS for the introduction. It is a classic Diplo mashup, focusing on one artist's work (Santogold) and a tour of hip-hop, reggae, dub and rock music from the last 40 years.

Last Sunday it provided the perfect soundtrack for a day lounging on the back patio with neighbors and friends. Sitting, reading, cooking, drinking and listening to music.

Suckered

I never wanted a blog. Well I did, but I was lazy. Then last night BC and I were competing to see who could find the best youtube clip (I won, not a big deal). I realized I wanted somewhere to store all the cool things I find on the internet. So this is really more for me than anything else, but if you enjoy so be it.

Who knows, maybe I'll even write some thoughts, rants, etc at some point.

Welcome to the blogosphere sucker.
